In this second episode of "SoundVision Tech Talks: Bloopers Reel," we're once again pulling back the curtain on the moments you don't usually hear. Turns out, one bloopers episode wasn't enough. From unexpected tangents to missed words, side conversations, restarts, and plenty of laughs, this episode is filled with more of the real, unfiltered, unedited moments that happen when the mics are rolling.

Not everything makes the final cut, and honestly, some of it probably should have. This episode is another behind-the-scenes look at the conversations between the conversations, giving you a closer look at the personalities behind the microphones.

While we aim to bring you meaningful conversations about technology, design, and the spaces we live in, this episode highlights the personality, humor, and spontaneity that usually stays behind the scenes.

It's a lighter side of SoundVision and another chance to experience the moments that almost never made it to air. We hope you enjoy Episode 2!

A Birthday Party And Leslie Story

SPEAKER_03

So Friday night, I was at a birthday party.

SPEAKER_04

Hold on, hold on. Put your headphones on and say exactly what you were gonna say, and then like we never know what could come up.

SPEAKER_03

Content, content, content. Yeah. So Friday night, I was at a birthday party, and you met Leslie, who owns the restaurant we had lunch at. So look, Leslie, did she do the Iron Man? Did she do the traveling? No. She couldn't. The training was too much for. It was the running, I think, was just it was kill on her legs.

SPEAKER_04

I couldn't believe the stuff this girl does. They have like a home in Denver and then they split time in Cozumel, right? Yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they own a restaurant. Two businesses. Yeah. Yeah. He has an advertising agency in Denver. And they built this restaurant in Cozumel. I was uh telling Leslie about my trip up here, and she said, Well, you know, that's great. They want to come up, they want to see you. I was like, Yeah, that'll be good. And I said, I'm worried they might make me do a podcast. And she's like, Hi, Leslie. We did. Here we are. Yeah, and she's like, we need to hear that podcast. I agree. I 100% here. Thank you, Leslie. Is it Leslie or Leslie? It's Leslie. It's L-E-S-L-E-Y.

SPEAKER_04

So Kristen had a friend in college and her name was Leslie. And she always said, it's Leslie, not Leslie. Oh. And so we have this joke. We've had this joke ever since then. So I anybody that's named Leslie is like, is it Leslie or Leslie? I call her Muchacha.

SPEAKER_03

So it's my nickname.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. Well, Leslie or Leslie, if you could call and verify the what he's saying is true. That'd be great. Shout out.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. Yep. So. All right. It's brand

Getting Comfortable On The Mic

SPEAKER_03

new. Okay. So I'm uh admittedly not used to uh podcasts.

SPEAKER_02

So oh I I thought didn't you in college? Didn't weren't you on the radio? I was on the radio. I'm glad you brought that up. Michelle told me that today you were a radio host.

SPEAKER_04

So you know dead air. Like I'm I'm assuming someone told you about that. So we're we app we apply to the same thing here.

SPEAKER_03

Yes. Don't want any pauses or uhs or popping of peas and things like that. None of which are in the app.

SPEAKER_02

Let's move on to the next one.

SPEAKER_04

I probably should read this.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe. Yeah, just going over kind of introducing Sydney, get a little bit of her background, how she got here, what she does here.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, one uh uh just so you know, because we'll be talking, and so naturally we would kind of look at each other while we're talking, but you're gonna be talking and I'm gonna be doing this.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_04

So just act like there's no video.

SPEAKER_01

They don't know that I'm doing it. They don't know we're not staring each other in the channel. That's exactly right.

SPEAKER_04

So don't feel that it's weird.

SPEAKER_01

It's like a little script. I like wrote all my answers now. I feel like I was just chicken scratch.

SPEAKER_04

Anything you do want to talk about, anything you don't want to talk about.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think so.

SPEAKER_04

Like literally nothing's off limit. I can talk to you about your dad and because I want to hear about that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, cool.

Baseball Dad Drama And Mercy Rule

SPEAKER_01

You should have seen them last night. Did you watch the game last night? The Tech Auburn game? Georgia Tech Auburn baseball.

SPEAKER_04

No, why no, why would I be watching Georgia Tech and Auburn baseball? Hurricanes were on. There we go.

SPEAKER_01

Do you have YouTube TV? There's split screen. I I do. I do, and I like the split screen. See? Could have been.

SPEAKER_04

Uh uh okay. Here's the obvious question. I thought he coached to Georgia. Why would I be watching Georgia Tech?

SPEAKER_01

So he did coach at Georgia. He was let go about three years ago.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Well, he took a year off because he was still on contract.

SPEAKER_04

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

He's still on contract as of this year, and now he's an assistant baseball coach at Georgia Tech. Scandal. The drama.

SPEAKER_04

The dude drama.

SPEAKER_01

Dude drama. There it is. Oh, but he was having a ball last night. They whooped Auburn's butt.

SPEAKER_04

Gotcha. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Run ruled him.

SPEAKER_04

As an assistant. There's a run rule in college?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah. You get 11 runs. Really? If you're up by 11, you have to agree to it. There's a mercy rule. You have to agree to it before the game starts.

unknown

You have to agree.

SPEAKER_01

You have to agree. You're gonna be like, are we gonna play run roll, yes or no? It is.

SPEAKER_04

Why would any okay? Here's dude drama. Also, why would any I mean we're talking about Division I college? We're not talking about like, they're not playing Sacred Heart. They're playing Auburn. Why would any Division I men's, maybe women's too? I only know men's. Why would any Division I men's sports team playing another Division I men's sports team look each other in the eye and go, yeah, you might beat us 11-0. So we're gonna do the mercy rule.

SPEAKER_01

All the time. Way more than you'd ever think.

SPEAKER_04

Well, maybe it happens, but I wouldn't agree to it. I'd want to get beat 40 to nothing because I'd want those guys to go, yeah, we probably need to practice.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the reason that's put in place is because there are typically flights booked far in advance, and they're like, Well, we gotta get to our flight. The game has to end at a certain time.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. All right. That's one reason. The behind the scenes G.

SPEAKER_04

Yep. Man, oh man, oh man. Interesting.

SPEAKER_02

Let's move on to the next one.

Editing Tricks And Retake Chaos

SPEAKER_02

He doesn't like anything negative.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. For real.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

But be authentic and have a conversation.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but be authentic and be your true self. Yeah, that is my true self. That's why I'm never asked to do anything.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, God.

SPEAKER_00

So that's what you just want me to make a statement. Yes, just so he can then roll into the rest of the stuff you said, which was really good. He can just cut out the I was having personal, professional, whatever the statement is, and then he can just drop that in there, cover over the white out.

SPEAKER_05

I can't do these with Eric. Why don't we ask Eric to sit in here?

SPEAKER_02

It's okay. We're at the end. It's gonna be okay.

SPEAKER_00

This has been Eric light. I've been professional. Not till now. No. That's ridiculous, and it doesn't make any sense.

SPEAKER_02

It's my favorite button.

SPEAKER_00

I think I used that. It's been on this board since the day we got it. Day one, right? Really? Mark called me to come in here and record that specifically. Because I said it every day. And now I don't ever say it anymore.

SPEAKER_02

He said the other day, he's like, I I pressed the button we were recording, he's like, I just said that to every other day! Okay, so yeah, just go with um what would you tell yourself? Or just jump in whenever you want.

SPEAKER_05

I don't want it to like clip and make it sound weird. Just don't do it in a weird voice.

SPEAKER_00

Like, here's my next statement. So it doesn't fit at all. Now it's in your head, and you're not gonna be able to do it.

SPEAKER_05

So we just want to do the whole segment again. Yeah, so pretty much when you ask that to say, I know you had personal and professional struggles, you know, what would you tell yourself, you know, day one in the warehouse before knowing that that's something that you would get into?

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Like something along those lines, so then I can kind of like jump right in and be like, Michelle and Eric save the day. Right, you know? Scene 201, Mark 2. Action.

SPEAKER_02

Let's move on to the next one. All right, Sydney. Do you want to do it?

SPEAKER_01

No, no, no, yours was good. I can't, I can't do it. Hello, Sydney.

Scream 7 Review And Opening Scene

SPEAKER_01

So scary.

SPEAKER_04

That is so good. By the way, I told Sydney we went and watched Scream 7. Was it good? Let me tell you. Let me just tell you. Let me go. Whoever you heard mixed reviews from is already idiots. Let me just tell you that if well, I will say it this way. Like, I'm not really a horror or a slasher type person. And and if you're not a slasher person, there are some scenes that are I mean, they're way over the top. But but yeah, they they extend gore to another level. There's slash, and you know, like if you're good with that, entertaining as hell. Was it really good? We we we're in the in the movie theater, just laughing and having it's not, I wouldn't call it scary at all. I can't even remember a scene that's scary. Yeah, you feel like they're too scary. That's it.

SPEAKER_01

Like edge of your seat type ones.

SPEAKER_04

No, there's a there's a couple, you know, there's a couple of jump scares, but it's so easy to tell. Yeah, when it's building up. There might be one scene that's scary. There's slash, but I wouldn't call it scary.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, predictable.

SPEAKER_04

But the I mean, the writing is really good, like the way they intertwine stuff, and it's just entertaining. Again, slash, but but yeah, it's really good.

SPEAKER_02

Sydney was back to protect her daughter. That's correct. Okay, because they always do it. They leave kind of like on some kind of open-endedness at the end. Was there any kind of clip hangers? Or do they tie it up? For eight. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um is it the last one?

SPEAKER_04

You know you claim it's the last, it's never the last. Uh, it depends on how it does in the theaters. That's true. If it makes money, it's not the last. Uh I would say that it could be sure. Because of the I mean, not because of the way it ends or because they do anything, but yeah, because of like who it is. By the way, good who done it. Couple couple twists, you you could get it. I was gonna say, did you predict who it was? I don't want to give anything away. Oh so it's got a couple of cool twists.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, not like you know, revolutionary. A little surprising, but you're like, oh, that makes sense. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's it's really, it's just well done. I'm just well done. I'm hooked, you sold me. And I will tell you that you know, they have the fact you haven't seen any of the screen movies?

SPEAKER_01

You haven't seen any? I've seen the first one. I mean the first one. Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_02

That's the classic, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And so you know the the opening scene with Drew Barrymore. Oh, yes. And so they it's kind of uh what I call it is the James Bond scene. It's you know, if you if you watch a James Bond, they always have that little like they hook you immediately. They did the ultra-action. It doesn't really have much necessarily to do with the movie, it's just sort of that scene that they put at the beginning. And Scream does the same thing, right? It's that scene, it kind of has to do with the movie, but not really. It's just that scene that started in one. Well, the one that's in, they have one in seven, and the one in seven is the girl from Landman, uh- who actually kind of reminds me a little of you. She's the daughter? The daughter. Yeah, no, no, no, not the mom. It's like, I'm out. Wait a minute. No, the cheerleader daughter that's oh that makes sense. Yeah, the cheerleader daughter, you know who I'm talking about, do you know how I'm talking about?

SPEAKER_01

No, I don't know her name, but yes, I've been actually she's from South Carolina. You don't have to look her up.

SPEAKER_04

You obviously don't watch Landman. And and I actually, Kristen does. I literally just because Kristen's watching it. You see it on. And and I kind of got into it because it's it's pretty good. It is pretty good. And she is pardon the phrase. Uh she's the eye candy of the of the show for for the younger generation. She's definitely the hook for the younger guys.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, yep.

SPEAKER_04

And she plays this kind of Ditzy Blonde.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, she's she's a typical Ditzy Blonde cheerleader girl.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. And she's not always the well, she wish I know she's the cheerleader in college, but was she before? I don't I don't know if she was cheaper. I don't think she was. She's cheerleader type. Yeah, yeah, that's her. That's her.

SPEAKER_01

Not before a TCU.

SPEAKER_04

So she is the loss leader in Scream 7.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, she's got that role in this opening scene.

SPEAKER_04

She's got the Drew Barrymore role, which is and it's actually pretty good.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, they're known for that. They do it like every one. I love it. It's pretty good. The way they do it is it's good.

SPEAKER_04

Ma'am, okay, we gotta move off. It's really good, though. I I thought it was great. And you're not ditzy, by the way. Let's just be thank you. It was literally just appearance-wise only. I think you're shorter than her, too. Yeah, definitely. But anyways, okay. So ready to jump in? Well, I should read this.

April Fools Jitters And Wrap Up

SPEAKER_04

No, I'm just so you're more comfortable now?

SPEAKER_01

I think so.

SPEAKER_04

Because we've been recording the whole time.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, man. April Fools. No exactly no April Fools. I was really scared to come into the office this morning, I'm not gonna lie. Really? I didn't know what kind of pranksters everyone was.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah, yeah. We're not real prankers.

SPEAKER_01

So I opened the door and I like looked above my head and I like checked my chair before I sat down. I was really scared. I was like, I'm too new. This is so easy to be done.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we're probably just lame and don't do that anymore.

SPEAKER_02

I forgot about it until I was like half an hour in, and then I was like, oh damn, I should have done something. Yeah. Too far gone.

SPEAKER_01

It's all good. Safe and sound.

SPEAKER_02

All right. There's definitely more where that came from, but we'll save it for another time. Hopefully, you got a better understanding of the behind the scenes and who's behind the mics. As always, thanks for listening, and we'll see you next time. Thanks for joining us for Simplifying Life through technology.
