Speaker 1:You're on the number two.
Speaker 2:Oh, please don't You're on.
Speaker 3:Okay, oh, this hurts my earrings.
Speaker 2:Uh-oh.
Speaker 1:Ouch, take them off. Let's loosen them up a little bit.
Speaker 3:Oh, I don't tap them off, then I'll forget them.
Speaker 1:I just want to say how many earrings were lost at the beach that's the worst.
Speaker 2:The ocean.
Speaker 1:Piper's dying to get her ears pierced. I need to schedule that somewhere go to the place in Morrisville.
Speaker 3:They're wonderful. I've got the card. They're very sweet there.
Speaker 2:That's where I got mine done send me the info they're really sweet okay, all right, so joining me in the podcast studio. Today we have marshall and sue.
Speaker 1:Hey guys always a pleasure to be in the podcast studio with mr andrew always a pleasure having you of course, sue. Thanks for joining us.
Speaker 2:Yes, we love having you here too, sue, so we wanted to get on the podcast today and kind of discuss some products that we want to talk about, some products that are perfect for the summer, help you prepare for vacations, outdoor entertainment, things like that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I love the summer. Summer's probably my favorite time of year. I think the kids are home, I get to spend more time with the kids, which is always nice, and you get out of the routine, the school, a little bit more. You get to do some traveling. Yeah, traffic's better Well it can be, you never know in this area Seriously All right.
Speaker 2:So why don't we get into some products that are beneficial for customers around this time? What are we seeing other clients opting for? Yeah, let's get into it.
Speaker 1:I think, some of the biggest. You get kind of a diverse mix of what we do in the summer months just because of different reasons. I mean, obviously the obvious one is outdoor living areas and entertainment areas. The pool is getting used more, that's no secret, in the summer months, right especially as hot as it's been this week it's needed uh, yeah, so landscape audio systems huge, huge. During the summer, everyone wants to upgrade this or that around the pool and party outside.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you get these entertainment spaces and some of these houses that are just absolutely gorgeous and deserve to be well done from a technical side right.
Speaker 3:Well, it's a living space for them. Yeah, I mean, it's part of their living space.
Speaker 1:It's an extension of the house, yeah, and so outdoor audio, outdoor video is a huge one. I mean, we're doing projects where we're raising and lowering TVs out of parts of the pool that are sort of built into the pool and they just kind of raise out of, you know, parts of the pool that are, you know, sort of built into the pool and they just kind of raise out of the side or drop down from a ceiling on the outdoor living, or maybe they're just part of the outdoor living itself, built in above the fireplace or whatever. The outdoor video is obviously a huge one as well.
Speaker 1:And then you have the other side of things that you know people travel a lot more during the summer as well, so they're want to keep an eye on things while they're gone and you get heightened surveillance things and heightened security measures that need to happen and some folks are gone for months at a time and that's really important to them.
Speaker 2:So what kind of products can help customers be able to manage and watch over their home so that way they don't have to worry when they leave?
Speaker 1:Yeah, soundvision takes a two-step approach to security and surveillance. We fundamentally believe those are two different things. I mean, you're going to have the CPIs and the ADTs of the world that believe that you know my monitoring station should be able to see your cameras too, and we at SoundVision don't feel the same way for sort of obvious reasons, especially when interior cameras are involved. But, yeah, so surveillance, arguably the more important side of it, because you, if you filed a report or you're missing a package off the porch, you need video coverage of that crime or commission of a crime happening. And then security, referring to the monitored security system what we're all familiar with with these CPI and ADT commercials kind of and disarming the system whether you're home or away, and smoke detectors being active when you're not, and all of the above.
Speaker 3:So keep an eye on doors and windows kids sneaking out in the middle of the night. There you go. Well, especially with packages being like, if people are on automatic delivery for packages and they forget to cancel it, then their floors or their porches load up with, you know, amazon and stuff like that. This way they can keep an eye on it to make sure that it stays there, or have somebody pick it up for them, so they can monitor it a little bit more as well.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's a good point about how, if they have someone coming to pick it up, they can remote in on their phone tablet wherever, let them in and lock it all up.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah. I actually had one client several years ago that had a very expensive like cancer treatment was delivered to their doorstep while they were out of town didn't change the address on the delivery or whatever and they were able to keep an eye on it and make sure everything was where it needed to be.
Speaker 3:Yeah, that's great. I love that.
Speaker 1:Another big one that we see a lot more during the summer months is landscape lighting.
Speaker 2:I was just going to bring that up.
Speaker 1:There's some beautiful examples out there In the outdoor areas and pergolas and, of course, the front of the house too, right? All these statement homes by these immaculate builders. And why not show it off, right? You want to be able to see that thing day and night. So landscape lighting we're doing now is it has a full color option too, so you can make it. You know, red, white and blue for the fourth of july, or? Paint for breast awareness or whatever you want to do with these landscape systems is pretty amazing.
Speaker 3:From the lakeside or the front of the house, whatever, right, actually that's the back of the house, lake side's front of the house. Lake side is front of the house. Lake side's always the front of the house.
Speaker 1:Oh, okay, I don't know what you mean by that, because that's what you're showcasing yeah, I guess, so yeah.
Speaker 2:I think another important product that could be beneficial are shades to help with the heat in your home, absolutely, absolutely right yeah, yeah, especially 102 yesterday.
Speaker 1:Yeah. And these lake houses? I mean, why wouldn't you? They have these amazing glass walls across the back of the house, just because you paid so much for that view. Why not be able to see it all the time? And so what a lot of folks don't realize. You can spend great money on windows that are energy efficient or whatever, but you're still getting a lot of sunlight, and that sunlight itself, energy efficient or not, keeping the heat in or out is still going to wash out floor colors. And expensive rugs and fabrics, yeah. Artworks, yeah. You want to protect all that stuff and there's lots of different shading options to do it.
Speaker 2:Yeah because some options you can still have your view while they're even closed. It's just giving that light diffusion and helping you with those problems.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we call that a sheer fabric, Andrew. Yes, a sheer fabric yes, a sheer fabric and different openness factors yes, percentages yeah let's see anything else sweet lighting audio shades.
Speaker 2:What about new products that we have in our showroom, like Kaleidoscape and MadVR some of our newest products? Maybe you want to give our listeners a brief little intro into those. Maybe they can come check it out.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean you can tie that right back into the kids being home a lot more, Entertaining out-of-town guests or whatever. Media rooms and home theater rooms have been a major part of our industry since the beginning and I don't see any sign of them going away soon.
Speaker 1:So there's always new technology and how to make a media room better than it was. One of those ways it's actually been around for a long time is a Kaleidoscape media server, and a lot of people, when they think of home theater, you think oh, I can just connect an Apple TV to it and I can log into all my streaming accounts and that's a great option. We do that all the time, but that's really the first option, right?
Speaker 1:You still need some way to watch TV in a media room right, Watch the live sports, whatever Sort of the next level is. And to preface this by saying your video source, or what you're watching in that media room, is the most important part of any video system. I mean the audio system and the video system can only be as good as the source is what's coming into it.
Speaker 1:So Kaleidoscape takes literally all of that to the next level and it allows you to store ultra-high resolution video, lossless audio all from a movie store also. So you think of like Apple iTunes, where you can go and buy or rent movies. Kaleidoscape does the same thing in ultra high quality formats and stores it after you buy it. So you have this digital hard drive, essentially as part of your media room that you can always access, and if you have other servers in other homes, or maybe even just a different room in the house, maybe have a little surround system in the family room, you can have multiple systems to access that one server, which is pretty cool.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and the difference in the quality of the picture is insane.
Speaker 3:Oh, it's night and day. Oh, absolutely, I mean, it's movie quality. It's movie quality. It really is Like movie theater, yeah it's as the director's intended.
Speaker 1:That's exactly right. Yeah, and we show folks that here in the showroom on a daily basis. Just because you want to be able to see both right, there's a reason for an Apple TV and there's a much better reason for something like Kaleidoscape. I mean think about Blu-ray players. When they came back right. A Blu-ray disc max capacity is 66 gigabytes. That's how much info can be stored on one. Kaleidoscape, for instance, the smallest movie in 4K we're not even into the 8K world yet, which, by the way, there's not a lot of content out but 4K movies on the smaller side are about 105, 110 gigabytes. When you stream a 4K movie and I'm using air quotes that nobody can see because you don't really know what you're getting when you stream a 4K movie, they compress that file from, say, apple iTunes or Netflix or whatever down to about three gigabytes so that you can download it quickly.
Speaker 1:So you're missing 90% of what that film was intended to be on the audio and the video side. So some of the media rooms we do can be $100,000, $200,000, $500,000. And you're watching an Apple TV on it, which is fun. It's great.
Speaker 2:We're used to it, yeah.
Speaker 1:I mean, you're just at the very tip of the spear of what that system can truly do, and that's where Kaleidoscape shines, yeah.
Speaker 3:And people don't realize it until they see the two side by side the difference, oh yeah. I mean, I know, when I saw it the first time, I'm like it looks great, just like this.
Speaker 1:And then great, just like this. And then we demonstrated it with the kaleidoscape and it was completely.
Speaker 2:I often see folks look behind like we changed the projector on them or something no smoking mirrors, just a different source, and that's all it is yeah, kind of like how lighting how people don't realize how good lighting like is so much more impactful.
Speaker 1:It's the same with this yeah, that's exactly right, absolutely mad vr, uh, even Kaleidoscape to the next level on the video side. So, while you're receiving the best possible content from 4K video into the system, your projector or your TV screen is still what we would call your output of the system. Right, that's what you're viewing. So Madr increases the productivity, to say, on the output side. So it upscales content and has the ability to change aspect ratios on the fly and and all kinds of different things that really, when you see that uh, contrast from and even on the same source, take, take a light escape. You know, top gun Maverick right, show it without mad VR, which is still incredible.
Speaker 3:Absolutely yeah.
Speaker 1:Turn on that switch for mad VR and folks like then. You really are confused as to what just happened.
Speaker 3:What are you doing back there? And people want to get blown away and when they have guests over and stuff like that, they want to show that stuff off as well.
Speaker 1:Look what my system can do.
Speaker 3:Yeah, you want to see something really cool, sit down. I mean, that's how we are when people come to our Experience Center. We're like have a seat, You're going for a ride.
Speaker 1:People come here to have fun. I mean, it's no secret that what we do almost none of it is a necessity, right? We're just kind of making your home fun to live in.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 3:And so when you get to have some of these things in your home, you want to play with them, you want to show them off and watch the faces on the kids and guests, and everybody, and that's why we call this an experience center, not a showroom, because you are experiencing all the different products that we offer and stuff like that and how you can experience it in your home as well.
Speaker 1:Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 2:All right. Well, I think that is all we have for today.
Speaker 1:No, secret question today oh yeah question, there's always a secret question oh, like favorite movie.
Speaker 2:What's your band and artist?
Speaker 1:um, hmm, you gotta close it with a question.
Speaker 2:I feel like all right, you're right. Okay, let's get into something fun. We want to end this on a fun note.
Speaker 1:Let's do You're going to put me on the spot, though.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so, marshall, you just recently went on vacation.
Speaker 1:I did yeah.
Speaker 2:So why don't you tell us what was your favorite thing you did there, what was fun? I was just going to say that yeah, something with the kids or the wife or.
Speaker 1:So we went to Hilton Head for the beach for a week, love it. We do it kind of yearly when we can.
Speaker 2:Yeah, same.
Speaker 1:I'm going to go sentimental and say that my favorite part of that vacation is I just get to be dad for a week. There's not very often in a busy summer life that you got work and you got things that you have to do for work, and so any opportunity I get to just be dad, I don't have to be coach, I don't have to be coach, I don't have to be anybody else but dad.
Speaker 3:Right, that's my favorite and he's a good dad, oh, thanks.
Speaker 1:Great dad.
Speaker 3:Very good dad.
Speaker 1:If you ask my kids, I think they would say that the all-you-can-eat crab legs is probably their favorite.
Speaker 2:Oh yes.
Speaker 3:That's awesome.
Speaker 1:Yeah, they will put a hurtin' on some crab legs, fingers. What was Piper's favorite part? Oh, she's a beach person. Yeah, any time spent on the beach is that's her jam. I mean she I've kind of I've always taught both of my kids to be very extroverted. It's kind of who I am Right.
Speaker 2:Well, yes.
Speaker 1:And so I've taught Piper's five years old for anybody who doesn't know so I've taught her kind of how to make friends, how do you introduce yourself, give them a compliment, all of this and that. So she's five years old and she'll walk up as soon as I put sunscreen on her. Can I go now? Can I go now? And she'll go. I won't see you the rest of the day Until she gets hungry or thinks she needs more sunscreen. She'll come back. She just wants to be friends with every other kid on the beach and play in the sand that's so precious I love it.
Speaker 1:I love to watch it. I love to. That's my favorite thing is to watch my kids make new friends.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah Must be a proud dad moment.
Speaker 1:I am, I'm truly blessed.
Speaker 2:Yeah, all right. Well, I think that's all for today.
Speaker 3:Thank, you, Marshall, Thank you.
Speaker 2:And if you want to learn about any of the products that we discussed, feel free to reach out to us socials. Give us a call, email, and we'll be happy to give you more information. All right, thanks, guys.
